SQL Developer

Full-time Position

Description

SQL developers' job duties include developing SQL databases and writing applications to interface with SQL databases, as well as writing and testing code. Development often consists of designing tables, storing procedures, views and functions.

Development/Analysis

Deliver a robust, testable, repeatable framework of jobs and scripts for migrating data and producing reconciliation reports to confirm success or failure
Work with third party suppliers to understand their software APIs and integrate them with your solutions to load and extract data
Identify and solve performance bottlenecks in SQL Server and Oracle database platforms
Manage MS SQL Server database environments that support data migration and backups and recoveries in test environments
Only use approved technologies when developing systems and adhere to department, industry and regulatory standards
Provide support for your solutions, including analysis, issue tracking and resolution. Take pro-active ownership of support tasks and see them through to completion
Report progress on development at daily stand-ups and escalate issues or slippage in a timely fashion, identifying remedial action to keep the project on track
Demonstrate a logical and structured approach to time management and task prioritization. Work within project timelines and budgets. Be able to organize own time, schedule tasks for completion and deliver work to that schedule

Project/Release Activities

Consult with customers or other departments on project status, proposals, or technical issues, such as software system design or maintenance.
Analyzes information to determine, recommend, and plan installation of a new system or modification of an existing system.

Leadership

May serve as mentor to lower level Programmer/Analysts.
Answers questions from lower level Programmer/Analysts.

Qualifications / Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business Management or related STEM field preferred.
3+ years Microsoft SQL Server experience with advanced T-SQL, writing stored procedures, views and triggers. Creating Indexes and constraints.
Strong background in data modelling, data management and data manipulation, code management and version control

Additional education may substitute for the minimum requirements of experience.

Strong interpersonal communication skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Working with relational database concepts, and client-server concepts.
Strong knowledge of SSIS and SSRS
Deployment of SSIS Packages and SSRS reports
Experience working with SQL Profiler and Visual Studio Data Compare Tool a plus
Database performance tuning, knowledge of execution plans and indexing strategies
Experience working in a team-oriented and collaborative environment
In-person interaction with co-workers and supervisors
Excellent working knowledge of the functionality and capabilities of MS SQL Server 2008 R2 and Oracle 11
Database Administrator and very strong SQL Developer with excellent T-SQL and experience of SQL Server Integration Services and strong knowledge of ETL techniques
Experience of large-scale data migration projects with multiple data sources and familiar with Extract-Transform-Load patterns and processes
